Sarasota, November 12, 2013 – The Players Theatre is thrilled to add another hit show to its Friday Night lineup! “Pageant,” by Bill Russell and Frank Kelly, is a hysterical beauty pageant musical in which all of the beauty “queens” have a little something extra. After all, what is a beauty pageant of glitz, glamour, and talent without five-o’clock shadows? Also, every show has its own unique twist, as actual audience members decide who wins! “Pageant” will open on November 22nd, and play once a month on a Friday through May. The show will begin at 8pm.

“Pageant” originally debuted Off-Broadway in NYC in 1991 and has been produced in Australia, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other major cities across the USA. “With a competition that includes categories for evening gown, swimsuit, talent, spokes-modeling, and beauty crisis counseling to callers in need, Pageant-goers will be on the edge of their seats to see who will be crowned winner at the end of the show,” says Russell, two-time Tony Award nominee.

The show follows six contestants through a pageant as they compete for the title of “Miss Glamouresse”. The contestants are Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial Northeast and Miss Texas and will feature the exquisite talents of Berry Ayers, Eric Berkel, Greyling Johnson, Jeffery Kin, Logan O-Neill and Jared Walker along with Joseph Strickland as the Master of Ceremonies. This is an evening sure to provide a lot of laughs!! Don’t miss this Off-Broadway hit that is “Screamingly Funny!” according to the New York Times!
