Position Summary:

This position is responsible for smooth operation of the Front of House which includes the lobby and audience seating area. Working closely with the Box Office, Production team, and volunteers to facilitate performances or other events held at The Players Center. Duties include but are not limited to providing the highest level of customer service, oversee volunteer ushers, ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons before, during, and after the show, answering patron’s questions, listening to their comments or concerns, and ensuring our patrons and volunteers feel welcome. House manager will need to be friendly, collaborative, have sound judgement, and excellent time management skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related customer service position.
  • Management and leadership skills necessary to direct and train ushers.
  • Can accommodate a flexible schedule, including ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Strong collaborative and problem-solving skills.
  • Diplomatic, tactful, and patron-focused, comfortable to speak to groups and ability to interact with staff, patrons, and volunteers.
  • Must project a professional and positive image and be able to take direction and fulfill responsibilities under stress or pressure, with minimal direct supervision.

Hours:
20-30 hours per week

Daily schedule varies depending upon the performance schedule.

Dress Code: Professional attire (i.e., a dress shirt, blouse, dress pants, skirt, or dress)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the house & lobby (removing trash and making sure tables and seats are neat and tidy)
  • Setting up The Players Centre flags to confirm patrons are at the correct location.
  • Assign usher teams for each performance into positions and train new ushers.
  • Organizing Playbills before and after performances
  • Serve as liaison between Front of House operations and Production Team.
  • Knowledge of show run-time and length of intermission.
  • Ability to stay on top of the scheduled timing before the show and during intermission.
  • Assist with house lights(signaling 5 minute & places call to warn patrons to get seated)before, during intermission, and after the show.
  • Awareness of Will Call, Bathroom, and Bar lines.
  • Solve any last-minute problems that may arise prior to or during a performance to ensure that each patron is provided a positive theatre experience at The Players Centre.
