Message from Artistic Director Jeffery Kin:

What is the new vibe?

"I discovered Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" many years ago when I witnessed its ferocity at a College Theatre conference in the 1980's. It instantly became one of my favorite musicals. I collected the soundtracks (from the many versions) and became a total groupie of the show. One of the things that make it stand out is that the show is irreverent and formal at the same time. It has a glorious score By Leonard Bernstein, that is part operetta, and part Saturday Night Live skit. It's funny, smart and yet totally accessible to its audience.

The Players will be doing the 1970's revised version that received some musical improvement from Stephen Sondheim. Besides an incredible score and a hilarious book, the show also makes a statement about religion, war and mans inhumanity to man. I know that doesn't sound like musical comedy fodder, but the show also carries important messages of tolerance and optimism that are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago.

Come and see, you will have the time of your life!"
